Single Element
Absorptive
BVO SWIR is an ultra-broadband absorptive linear polarizer covering 400 nm to 2,100 nm — the widest single-element spectral coverage in the BVO product line and among the broadest absorptive polarizers available anywhere. A single BVO SWIR element covers the complete visible, NIR, and SWIR bands, eliminating the need for multiple polarizers in broadband systems. Peak measured contrast exceeds 153,000:1 at approximately 900 nm, with contrast above 1,000:1 maintained from 437 nm to 2,100 nm.

Performance
BVO SWIR delivers exceptional performance across an extraordinarily wide bandwidth. From 400 nm, Tp rises steeply from ~20% to a plateau of 60–65% through the visible and NIR. Contrast is exceptional in the 600–950 nm window — exceeding 90,000:1 at 700 nm and peaking above 153,000:1 near 900 nm — before transitioning to a SWIR regime where contrast remains 2,000–5,000:1 with Tp rising to 80%+ above 1200 nm.
The transition near 1000 nm reflects a change in the dominant absorption mechanism as the film moves from NIR to SWIR performance. Both bands deliver strong, usable contrast well above the requirements for most SWIR imaging and sensing applications.
